Kerala is a state on India’s southwestern coast. It is renowned for its lush landscapes, backwaters, and rich cultural heritage. Known as "God’s Own Country," it boasts over a hundred of historic and pre-historic sites. Of these, the notable ones are attributed to the Chera, Ay, Mushika, Ezhimala and Villavar dynasties.
The Kerala sites may be grouped by sub-region. The Malabar region of north Kerala show similarities to historic sites found in southwest Karnataka. The Kochi region of central Kerala evolved into a unique architectural style of its own. The Travancore region of south Kerala shares ideas and inspirations with historic sites found in south Tamil Nadu.
