Telangana historic sites

Telangana is a southern state found in the Deccan region of India. It has a rich history and culture that is reflected in over 100 historic sites. The oldest monuments in Telangana date from about 3rd century BCE. Eastern Chalukyas and Kakatiyas refined a style that is now called "Telingana". They built temples, monasteries and other monuments of particular note.

Some complexes of temples in Telangana are now a UNESCO World Heritage site. These show highly intricate and beautiful carvings. The architecture of Alampur temples and the yoga-scenes on the walls of Krishna valley temples show Telangana served as another historic melting pot of innovations and ideas between north, west, east and south India.
